W wielu opracowaniach na temat literatury afrykańskiej można znaleźć informacje na temat sprawności językowej autorów lub innowacyjności w posługiwaniu się przez nich językiem francuskim. Stwierdziliśmy jednak, że nie ma poważnych badań, które zajęłyby się kwestią realizmu magicznego w literaturze afrykańskiej. Postawiliśmy sobie za zadanie, aby poprzez korpus trzech współczesnych powieści afrykańskich z postkolonialnego obszaru frankofońskiego, sprawdzić, czy możemy wykryć ślad pisarstwa magiczno-realistycznego. Są to dzieła Sony Labou Tansi La vie et demie, Williams Sassine’a Le jeune homme de sable oraz Cheik Aliou Ndao Mbaam Dictateur. Poprzez uważną lekturę tych tekstów zamierzamy wykazać, że na gruncie literatury afrykańskiej można mówić o istnieniu tego nurtu, który rzekomo wywodzi się z Ameryki Południowej, a którego najbardziej godnym przedstawicielem jest Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
