O cientista francês Prof. Davidovits provou que as pirâmides no Egito há 5000 anos e a Grande Muralha na China na dinastia Song há 600 anos foram todas construídas com tecnologia geopolímera. O cimento geopolímero tem sido reconhecido como um material verde mais durável, com menos emissões de CO2 e menor consumo de energia em comparação com o cimento Portland amplamente utilizado. Prevê-se que o geopolímero substitua o cimento Portland e leve a uma revolução na engenharia civil. Todas as grandes descobertas na história da engenharia civil devem-se à pesquisa e à aplicação de novos materiais na engenharia civil, como o advento do betão e do aço, etc. Neste livro, é apresentado um estudo experimental das propriedades termomecânicas de um cimento preparado com cinzas volantes da classe F e três ativadores alcalinos diferentes (NaOH, KOH e Na2SiO3) sob diferentes proporções de hidróxido/silicato. Os resultados testados mostram que o cimento geopolímero curado em condições adequadas pode atingir uma resistência à compressão de 113,8 MPa e também tem uma excelente resistência ao calor, com uma notável resistência residual de 95,9 MPa e sem espalação, mesmo quando resfriado repentinamente com água após o aquecimento a 500 °C.
