Franklin Boukaka był zaangażowanym kongijskim artystą muzycznym. W 1970 roku wydał album zatytułowany Le Bûcheron (Drwal), w którym śpiewa o nieszczęściu Afryki, znęcaniu się nad kontynentem, na którym nie można podnieść głowy, ryzykując wycięcie jak drzewo przez drwali ubranych w kostium prezydencki. Na tym pochwalnym albumie, Le Bûcheron, potępia nieprawości szalejące w Afryce po odzyskaniu niepodległości. Wzywa on Afrykańczyków do uświadomienia sobie tego faktu, a jednocześnie domaga się mobilizacji wszystkich na rzecz pełnej niezależności narodów afrykańskich.Jego refleksje polityczne dorównywały debacie. Śpiewał o bezwarunkowej wolności Afryki i z całą mocą ilustrował panafrykańczyków, którzy zaznaczyli swoją obecność na scenie politycznej na całym świecie. Ta płyta, zawierająca treści nacjonalistyczne i panafrykańskie, wzywa przywódców do uświadomienia sobie niepewnej sytuacji na kontynencie. Franklin Boukaka jest więc głosem bez głosu, taka jest formuła Aimé Césaire in Cahier d’un retour au pays natal. To właśnie staraliśmy się pokazać w tym briefie.
