Prescribing medicines for patients with dysphagia and swallowing difficulties provides additional challenges to the prescriber. Medicines are usually prescribed as tablets and capsules and for a variety of reasons these may not provide the most appropriate choice. This book outlines the legal, pharmacological and clinical issues which should be considered when selecting the most appropriate course of action and provides practical advice on how best to prescribe and manage medication in this vulnerable group of patients. Specific advice is also included regarding medicines management and selection of appropriate formulations for children, older persons and those with enteral feed tubes. 3
