Like many people, I feel overwhelmed by the ecological crisis that continues to mount around the globe. Feelings of helplessness orhopelessness are expected as we reflect on the enormity of what is corrupted, hurting, and already lost. What can any one person do to bring about change? I believe that prayer is aprudent place to begin. A few minutes of reflection every day can shift our understanding of our purpose and begin a dialogue of prayers for the climate crisis we are in. Our minds and hearts are voluminous organs that receive the in-pouring of mystical understanding. I believe that through the time-tested methods of prayer, contemplation, and meditation, we can clear our minds and deepen our connections to each other and the world we live in. I hope that this book, Prayers for Mother Earth: Gratitude, Compassion, Repentance, and Guidance, will be a guide that brings our wants and desires into alignment with the marvelous energy that has designed Creation. Prayers for Planet Earth or prayers for Mother Earth matter little. The intention to dialogue of Prayers for the climate is a good practice. Mary Jane Miller’s books on climate disaster and her prayer books on climate crisis are a great place to begin.
