Matylda z Canossy należy bez wątpienia uznać za jedną z najpotężniejszych kobiet średniowiecza. Co więcej: za życia margrabina była również najbardziej wpływową księżniczką na Półwyspie Apenińskim. Matilda z Canossy była bowiem nie tylko tą, która umożliwiła w ogóle marsz Henryka IV do Canossy.
