The poems in this book were written between 2008, and 2016. This book has truly been a gift of God. Who would have thought that God would use a middle age, introvert, who hid behind walls to protect himself from the pains of life, to write a book of poems to encourage others. I was comfortable being in the background, not being in the spotlight was fine with me, but what I didn’t realize was, God had other plans. I was comfortable living a sheltered life, because I didn’t see myself as broken. The truth is I was broken, and God had plans to fix me by using me to help others. In 2008 I had no idea of God’s plan for me to be a poet. I always felt I was writing to encourage others, but God, is the greatest multitasker ever. He was having me help others, while He was pulling me out of my shell and preparing for the walls in my life to be removed. What makes this book a gift of God is I never had an interest in writing or reciting poetry. I had never written a poem before being inspired to do so by God. The first time I was invited to recite one my poems in front of a church I started out by apologizing saying that I wasn’t really a poet. When I took my seat after I finished the poem, God rebuked me and said to me, 'Who told you that you were not a poet. If you keep saying you’re not one, you will never believe you are one.' As God placed people in my life that needed encouragement, God instructed me to encourage them with a poem. The more obedient I was the more God allowed my gift to grow. Almost all the poems found in this book are inspired by someone that God had placed in my life. Many of the poems written in this book are two person conversation with a hurting person and a reply from God. You may even find yourself in many of these poems, as if I was listening to a conversation with you, and God, or I had tapped into your prayers. I must stress that the poems in this book are not for entertainment, but are written to encourage the body of Ch

Originally written by hand, the author has traversed a fine line betw...

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
