Senna alexandrina Mill, im Volksmund als Sene bekannt, wird seit dem neunten oder zehnten Jahrhundert für seine phytotherapeutischen Eigenschaften verwendet. Sene-Blätter werden am häufigsten in Form von Tees verwendet, die Extrakte werden jedoch in einer Vielzahl von Abführmitteln eingesetzt. Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, die Aspekte der physikalisch-chemischen Qualität von Seneblättern, die als Bulkware in Naturkostläden verkauft werden, durch Qualitätstests von pflanzlichen Rohstoffen zu bewerten, sowie ihre charakteristischen chemischen Bestandteile.
