Pedro Zárraga Barreto, cantautore venezuelano, è nato a Yaracuy il 4 febbraio 1933 ed è morto a Barquisimeto, nello Stato di Lara, nel 1998. Ha composto numerose canzoni, nell’ambito di diversi generi della musica venezuelana. I suoi maggiori successi furono la canzone 'Pipiriguá', il golpe tocuyano e il valzer Lindo Yurubí. Fu un maestro nell’insegnamento della chitarra, stabilendo un proprio metodo didattico. Sviluppò anche un’importante opera di diffusione della musica venezuelana, non solo come cantante, ma anche attraverso il suo programma radiofonico 'Las Estrellitas Infantiles y juveniles de Pedro Zárraga Barreto', con il quale ricevette diversi premi e riconoscimenti per aver promosso giovani talenti e coltivato nei bambini e nei giovani il radicamento per le tradizioni culturali, oltre a motivarli a cantare i generi musicali venezuelani. Senza dubbio, ha lasciato un’eredità preziosa come contributo all’identità latinoamericana.
