Este trabalho é de interesse científico. Este tema contribuiria para lançar o debate sobre os meios alternativos oferecidos pelo sistema internacional dos direitos humanos para uma melhor acção do Estado na procura da protecção dos seus cidadãos. Neste sentido, a sociedade actual está a reprovar certos actos que tendem a perturbá-la. Esta reprovação é ainda maior quando estes actos, cometidos por figuras políticas ou pelos seus apoiantes, ficaram impunes. O trabalho de investigação também tem em conta a imunidade, uma instituição estabelecida pela constituição e criada para garantir a independência legal dos parlamentares e para os proteger da intimidação pelo poder político. O objectivo geral deste trabalho é mostrar as causas e consequências de certos factores legais e outros factos institucionais no que diz respeito à luta contra a impunidade face aos mecanismos internacionais e ao papel do Estado.
