Oran wetlands (western Algeria)

Since Algeria’s ratification of this convention, numerous activities have been carried out to improve the management of these sites and enhance their value through management plans, inventories and ongoing monitoring of their ecological dynamics. The current ecological and environmental conditions in western Algeria are such that the region’s wetlands are under threat. It is therefore necessary to set up a Sustainable Management Plan for these ecosystems, which have been weakened by climatic hazards and human activities.This book provides an overview of the state of wetlands in Oranie (western Algeria), through an analysis of the context of these environments to assess the possibilities and feasibility of integrated management, as well as the qualification and typology of these aquatic ecosystems.
