For those of us old enough to remember that peace is to be guarded and cherished, we need to tell children of the lessons of the past. We need to teach them that tolerance of diversity and individuality are seeds to be sown that will grow into harmony between nations. It is also urgent that we teach them to treasure the Earth’s resources and to manage them wisely in order to avoid an environmental crisis for themselves and for generations to come. This bedtime story hopes to explain that the natural beauty of creation lies in the incredible diversity of life forms; that this diversity is to be appreciated in the environment and ourselves as a gift. The author tries to impart that we need to strive to preserve and not destroy what has been given to us. The story also helps shine a glimmer of hope to show children that their creativity can be used to find solutions to the most daunting of problems, as long as they have the patience to work towards solutions instead of reacting thoughtlessly to the symptoms of these problems. They also need to remember that problems are more easily resolved with the unity of the people involved. They need to be taught that to make friends of foes is the road to peace and better days ahead. Please read this book to a child you love and encourage them to avoid violence, so that they can have the childhood they deserve.
