A música, como forma de linguagem, é uma característica humana que está presente na vida do ser humano e, por isso, influencia no desenvolvimento cognitivo, social, emocional e afetivo de muitos que com ela se relacionam. Ao entrarem em contato com o mundo sonoro, as crianças reconhecem diversos sons e são capazes de reproduzi-los e reinventá-los. Isso é possível porque o ser humano é capaz de imaginar, criar, dar novos sentidos às suas experiências. Segundo a perspectiva sócio-histórica de Vygotsky, assumida neste trabalho, toda atividade humana geradora de algo novo é um ato criativo e a imaginação criadora é um processo que transforma culturalmente a realidade. Com base nesses pressupostos, foram traçados objetivos que delinearam a estruturação teórico-metodológica desta pesquisa. Assim, teve-se por objetivo geral compreender o processo criativo de crianças da educação infantil, iniciantes em atividades de musicalização, envolvendo reconhecimento, identificação e representação de elementos do som a partir de diversas produções sonoras. Espera-se que este trabalho amplie as discussões na área e promova novos significados na prática da musicalização infantil.
