O ensino do francês é uma preocupação em África e nos Camarões. A questão da aprendizagem da poesia ilustra este facto. Existe um fosso entre o género poético e os aprendentes. Para estes últimos, a poesia é um verdadeiro mistério. Por outras palavras, é complexa, a sua linguagem é hermética. Neste sentido, a obra Capitale de la douleur (1926) de Paul Éluard, incluída no programa de Terminales littéraires, é difícil de compreender. Um olhar mais atento ao programa revela que os métodos actuais são pouco adequados ao ensino da poesia surrealista. É fortemente influenciado pela tendência clássica devido à marginalização da lacuna no estudo da poesia contemporânea. O grande desafio é encontrar um método que se adapte ao estudo do texto poético contemporâneo e que permita aos alunos compreender a poesia contemporânea: daí a semiopoética de Michael RIFFATERRE baseada na interpretação de agramaticalidades.
