Éducatif et étonnant en même temps, il y en a pour tous les âges et tous les niveaux.Nous ouvrons les yeux et le monde se présente comme sur un écran de cinéma. Les détails apparaissent bien définis, les couleurs vives. Un monde solide avec un mouvement lisse. Il n’y a aucune raison de douter que le sens de la vue soit parfait, ou presque.Cependant la vérité est tout autre. L’œil est étonnamment limité dans ses capacités, et il y a un jeu permanent entre l’œil et le cerveau pour mieux interpréter le peu que capte l’œil à un instant donné.  En réalité, on voit les détails uniquement sur une toute petite zone, on a un véritable trou dans la vue de chaque œil et on est complètement aveugles jusqu’à la moitié du temps où les yeux sont ouverts.Grâce aux multiples illustrations et illusions visuelles, et en comparant l’œil à une caméra numérique, ce livre montre le vrai fonctionnement de l’œil, avec toutes ses limites. Néanmoins, on démontre que l’œil, en dépit de ses limites, est bien adapté aux besoins de notre survie dans le monde réel.
