В тексте обсуждается вопрос о переосмыслении искусства актера в контексте двух виртуальных проектов, поставленных Марком Рини и Роном Уиллисом в Канзасе, США, в 1995 и 1996 годах: 'The Adding Machine' и 'Wings'. Тема технологии, раздвигающей границы познания, затрагивается, а искусству, как всегда, предлагается отразить этот новый опыт. Виртуальный театр подразумевает, таким образом, переопределение игры актеров, роли техников, функций режиссеров и отношений со зрителями. В исследовании на уровне театра обсуждаются существующие отношения между телесным, психическим и искусственным, междисциплинарная подготовка актера, вопрос об уменьшенном актере, вопрос о новом исполнителе, а также проблемы, которые обычно возникают в процессе постановки спектаклей, где используются новые технологии. Работа адресована специалистам в области театра и новых технологий, а также энтузиастам театра и виртуального мира.
