My Two Favorite Horses Buck & LadyThis true story is a delightful, entertaining, and educational read. It took place when the author was a young boy in the early years of WW2. His family lived next door to a family that owned two horses, Buck, and Lady. The boy’s father was brought up in Colorado and worked and rode horses every day. He loved and respected them for their speed, agility, stamina and over all abilities. This story is about a father and son’s relationship with Buck and Lady and each other. 'Through the years I worked with my father, taught me everything about horses, even their habits and tricks. I worked with Buck and Lady from 1942 until 1954, when I joined the army. Even to this day if I see a tan or white horses, I think of Buck and Lady. I loved the two horses next door and recall all the great times my dad and I had with them and each other.'

The Orchard House is a transcendent book replete with lyric poems not just regarding the human interface with nature but something infinitely more.  Richard Shaw’s poems are meditations that develop into mystical experience through keen observation.  His vision is akin to W. S. Merwin’s in his book of odes, Present Company; and his sensibilities viv à vis the natural world remi...
