Die Eliminationsleistung von Kläranlagen für Mikroverunreinigungen variiert je nach den physikalisch-chemischen Eigenschaften der Verbindungen stark (15 bis 100 %). Um die Eliminationsleistung zu steigern, müssen fortschrittliche Behandlungsverfahren wie die Adsorption an Aktivkohle hinzugefügt werden. Die Modellierung des Verhaltens von Mikroverunreinigungen durch Kläranlagen ist ein nützliches Werkzeug, um die Eliminierung von Mikroverunreinigungen zu erhöhen und ihre Freisetzung in die Umwelt zu reduzieren.
