Over the years, I have written these poems from memories, occurring events, and from my thoughts as they emerged. These selections included represent only a few as I began writing poetry while still very young. Some came easy to write, while others have undergone many revisions. Writing in rhythm and rhyme carries a great fascination and challenge for me.Many, but not all of the photos included, came from the photography collection of my son, Jeremy. Our family photo albumns contained the others.Carolyn Macy lives in Norman, Oklahoma with her husband and son. Their daughter lives in Hawaii. Her published children’s picture books include: Hawaiian Night Before Christmas (Pelican Publishing), Oklahoma Night Before Christmas (OWFI Best Juvenile Book Award for 2013), Who Can Save the North Pole?, The Great Leopard Hunt, Miracle on the Hudson, A Special Christmas in July, and Chasing the Moon’s Shadow. Her books first published by Tate Publishing are now self published through Ingram Spark.Jeremy Macy lives in Norman, Oklahoma. Not only is is known for his photography, but has also had the honor of having his paintings hang in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Very seldom does Santa ever find snow covering the land in Oklahoma. This sometimes gives him problems getting all his presents to the sleeping children. In this version of the popular tale, Santa brings his gifts on a four-wheeling ATV as blasts of freezing cold sweep into the state, and even his cozy Santa suit can't keep him warm. When radar signals pick up his flying ma...

A century ago, our country went through the flu pandemic. I have always wondered how people dealt with it. The generations before us never talked about their experiences then. Maybe we just didn’t know how to ask, but during this pandemic we have just lived through, I kept a journal so that I would remember the things we saw, we heard, or we did. This publication, based on my j...

On August 21, 2017 the path of totality stretched across the United States from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. My husband (John), son (Jeremy), and I drove north to Nebraska to be in the path of totality. Our destination lay east of Beatrice, Nebraska at Rockford Lake. Upon arrival, our challenges began. Soon after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York, a flock of geese flew into Captain Sullenberger’s plane and shut down its engines.  This happened one cold afternoon on January 15, 2009.  With one hundred fifty-five people aboard Flight 1549, the plane began to lose altitude. Unable to reach LaGuardia or Teterboro Airports in time, and without the power of his engines, wo...
