Este estudo recorre a uma análise comparativa para examinar as actividades políticas das elites e as qualidades pessoais dos líderes de transição da Geórgia - Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Eduard Shevardnadze, Mikheil Saakashvili e Bidzina Ivanishvili - bem como o papel e o lugar dos líderes carismáticos na política georgiana. De igual modo, são analisados os elementos da cultura patriarcal e subserviente na realidade georgiana. Como se pode ver neste estudo, no pensamento político e na cultura da Geórgia, as orientações da cultura subordinada são redundantes (são predeterminadas pelo passado totalitário, pelo governo autoritário e autocrático de M. Saakashvili, pela mentalidade generalizada de ladrão, pelo 'carácter contrastante dos georgianos' e por outros factores). Existe uma grande fé num líder carismático, uma cultura subdesenvolvida de pensamento estatal, uma fraca democracia pluralista e partidária. As 'regras do jogo político' democrático estão em processo de formação, dominadas por orientações de retirada do espaço jurídico e propensão para a violência.
