Growing up in Nebraska, the Land of Flat Water, was not easy for the young Laurel Rockefeller. Facing first horrific domestic violence followed by a crushing car accident and traumatic brain injury, the chaos of growing up in Lincoln was ultimately calmed by embracing Evangelical Christianity in her teen years. Divided into three parts, this poetry book explores Laurel’s relationship with Nebraska, centering on her writings from ages 8 through 28.
