Engluée depuis trois décennies dans un cycle infernal de violences, la République centrafricaine a enclenché en 2015 un processus de justice transitionnelle en vue de faire face aux graves violations des droits fondamentaux, entre autres conséquences des nombreuses situations de violence qui ont émaillé son histoire. Une Cour Pénale Spéciale et une Commission Vérité, Justice, Réparation et Réconciliation sont ainsi créées et censées participer aux côtés de la Cour Pénale Internationale et des juridictions centrafricaines de droit commun, à la lutte contre l’impunité des crimes graves du droit international commis dans le pays. Cependant, suite à un processus de paix engagé et soldé par la signature en février 2019 d’un accord de paix entre le gouvernement centrafricain et les groupes d’opposition armés, l’articulation complémentaire entre les impératifs de la lutte contre l’impunité et ceux de la paix est sujette au compromis. Ce qui met en lumière les dilemmes de la justice et de la paix dans le contexte de sortie de crise en RCA dont les enjeux sont abordés dans cet ouvrage.
