'La invención de la cultura' es el primer libro de Roy Wagner que se traduce al español.Roy Wagner (1938-2018) se doctoró en antropología por la Universidad de Chicago bajo la dirección de David M. Schneider y fue profesor de la Universidad de Virginia durante los últimos cuarenta años. Su trabajo etnográfico entre los daribi de Nueva Guinea y los barok de Nueva Irlanda sirve de base a un extenso conjunto de publicaciones, entre las que se cuentan once libros sobre temas que van del parentesco a la mitología, el método etnográfico, el chamanismo, la bufonería y la ficción. 'La invención de la cultura', su trabajo más conocido, se ha convertido en un clásico de la antropología del siglo xx.
