El diario El Comercio es una de las fuentes más importantes para la historia del Perú republicano. Como su propio nombre indica, el periódico, fundado por Manuel Amunátegui y Alejandro Villota en 1839, publicaba datos y notas referentes al movimiento económico y al desarrollo material de los pueblos.
