L’éthique est un principe qui décrit ce qui est juste et correct et ce qui est faux ou incorrect en matière de comportement. L’éthique et la pratique éthique sont intégrées dans tous les aspects des soins infirmiers. Ce livre a pour objet l’application des principes éthiques fondamentaux aux questions relatives à la vie humaine ; il donne donc une évaluation morale des différents types de comportement. Au fur et à mesure que les sujets abordés éclairent les questions relatives à la vie, on espère que les étudiantes infirmières pourront mieux apprécier la vie, leur propre vie et celle des autres. Ce livre comporte trois parties : La première partie 'La vie' (chapitres 1-2) est d’ordre philosophique (anthropologie), la deuxième partie 'Prendre soin de la vie' (chapitres 3-9) traite principalement de l’éthique des soins de santé, et la troisième partie 'Transmission de la vie humaine' (chapitres 10-14) traite principalement de la vertu de chasteté.
