Dem Buch ist daher weitestgehende Verbreitung zu wünschen. Nach Buchbesprechungen und Anzeigen wird dieses Buch des Israeli Shahak sowohl von jüdischer Seite als auch von Teilen des deutschen Buchhandels - möglicherweise wegen des 5. Kapitels „Die Gesetze gegen Nichtjuden' oder wegen seiner „Politischen Konsequenzen' in Kapitel 6 - boykottiert. Harm Menkens, Kapitän auf Großer Fahrt - Lühe‐Verlag Israel Shahak kam 1945 nach Palästina. Er war Professor für organische Chemie an der Universität Jerusalem. Er starb in 2001. Als lebenslanger Kämpfer für Menschenrechte schreibt er über Aspekte des Judentums in Hebräisch und Englisch. Während im Westen gegen den mohammedanischen Fundamentalismus gehetzt wird, breitet sich der jüdisch‐orthodoxe Fundamentalismus weitgehend unbemerkt aus. In diesem wissenschaftlichen und höchst lobenswerten Werk liefert Shahak eine provokative Studie darüber, in welchem Ausmaß der weltliche Staat Israel durch religiöse Orthodoxien von gehässiger und potentiell todbringender Natur umgestaltet worden ist. Aus seinem Studium des Talmud und der rabbinischen Gesetze zieht Shahak die Erkenntnis, daß die Wurzeln des jüdischen Chauvinismus und religiösen Fanatismus verstanden werden müssen, bevor es zu spät ist.
