As one of the three greatest philosophical minds in history, Aristotle help shaped the way we think in the Western world. His book on logic was the standard text in the field for nearly 2,000 years. Many of his studies were groundbreaking. He taught generations of academics a basic approach to research, and using that approach did a number of studies that laid the foundation for the development of new academic disciplines. His work in moral philosophy is still read by ethics students today. Whether Aristotle is the greatest philosopher of all time, or whether that honor goes to his teacher, Plato, Aristotle’s work helped shape Western civilization. What he thought about rationality, logic, and thinking, what he thought about metaphysical concerns, about politics, drama, and many other subjects remains important even today.
