Brenda Ueland
During her lifetime, Ueland authored two books. 'If You Want to Write,' published in 1938, was the first. She discusses her thoughts on writing and life in general in this book. 'Everyone is talented, original, and has something essential to contribute,' she emphasises. She advises writers to 'Try to identify your true, honest, un-theoretical self,' drawing largely on William Blake’s work and impact. She summarises her book with 12 points to consider when writing. 'If You Want to Write,' according to Carl Sandburg, is the best book on how to write ever written.
