L’objectif de ce livre est double. Le premier est de démontrer pourquoi l’humanisme classique semble obsolète dans une perspective post-humaniste, et le second est d’illustrer la contribution de la théorie mimétique à la compréhension du sujet. Dans une première partie, nous verrons pourquoi la notion d’identité proposée par l’humanisme classique est totalement inadaptée à la compréhension de la réalité de l’homme, c’est-à-dire de l’historicité relationnelle. Dans une seconde partie, nous verrons comment l’hypothèse de René Girard est efficace en termes d’herméneutique du sujet et s’inscrit parfaitement dans une réflexion post-humaniste sur la réalité.
