Esta comparação pode ajudar a avaliar a viabilidade de futuros ensaios prospectivos que comparem os resultados de ambas as modalidades e a estabelecer e normalizar protocolos para ambas as intervenções. Este estudo também ajuda a colocar o EPIC no algoritmo de tratamento de doentes com neoplasias malignas da superfície peritoneal se a HIPEC não puder ser efectuada devido a restrições de recursos ou a factores do doente e, juntamente com esta comparação, auditámos os nossos dados sobre neoplasias malignas da superfície peritoneal.
