Hardwired to Christ is a daily devotional book which focuses on the union that exists between us and Christ; 365 questions about the most stunning spectacle in history – the cross of Jesus. The author attempts to demystify the greatest mystery of all; ‘We have been joined to Christ’ – and in doing so challenges many of the pre-conceived ideas which have come to define Christianity. These old paradigms may be simply the established rhetoric of the culture of Christianity, or perhaps notions of God that have grown out of our need for security and identity – yet often we accept them without much thought, and find ourselves living out a form of Christianity which is incomplete and unsatisfying. The author himself went through a challenging time of re-thinking the Christian faith when the oft repeated party lines where inadequate for the real life issues he was facing – in the process he gained an insight into Jesus Christ, his life and death, and their relevance today. It was a realization of the extravagance of the work of Christ on the cross, and the relative dim glow generated by the things of this world. We are hardwired to Christ – the cross has done its work.

  • Back In The Garden Again
    Graeme Schultz
The true gospel message has little to say about what we do, and much to say about what Christ did, and who we are as a result. This gospel is not found in the busy activities of religion, it is more akin to a pilgrimage to the cross, you just go there and ask God to show you what it was all about. And then you go back, time and time again, all by yourself, and gradually the mag...

  • To Be Christian
    Graeme Schultz
The thing that makes God’s dream of humanity so wild is… He knew. He knew all our days, all the good and evil, and He didn’t even blink – such is the extravagant love that has held me from eternity to eternity. God’s wildest dream and my wildest dream coincided on the cross of Jesus. The ancient longing within me to be loved without any strings attached, and the ancient truth a...

  • As If

It would be very strange to see a butterfly living its life like a caterpillar, never trusting its wings to carry it and never embracing its new identity. It would be a denial of all that defines its existence. It occurred to me some time ago that I had spent a significant part of my life making statements about faith, but not actually living my life as if they were true. That’...

Have you ever wondered what’s on the other side? Most of us are so preoccupied with life in the here and now that we hardly stop to think about what eternity is actually like. It is, after all, a long way off for most of us—so we think we can give it some thought when it looms a little larger. However, the Bible speaks of eternity as “present tense,” i.e. we are in it now. John ...

Adam handed to us a broken version of God’s original design of humankind; our spirit and soul were now two completely individual and unrelated parts. Adam’s actions starved our spirit of the freely given nourishment that comes from the heart of God, and he set our soul a task it wasn’t designed for – to generate self-worth from our management of good and evil. The work Jesus ac...

  • The Surpassing Greatness Of Christ
    Graeme Schultz
My intention in writing this book has been to ‘express the in-expressible’, the most astonishing spectacle ever presented to humanity – the surpassing greatness of Christ. Christianity is not primarily about the programs, activities and causes of church life, it is about the union that Jesus re-built between us and God. I spent the better part of my life deeply involved in the ...
