Genealogie van het geslacht Fredriks. De stamvader van het geslacht Fredriks woonde in de regio van Thuine in het huidige Duitsland. Zijn zoon, Joannes Bernardus Freriks, vestigde zich in circa 1795 als Hollandganger te Kethel. Seizoensarbeiders uit Duitsland gingen in de zomer te voet naar het 'steinreicke' Holland om op het land te werken. Vele seizoensarbeiders leerden tijdens hun verblijf een meisje kennen en vestigden zich uiteindelijk permanent in Holland, zo ook Joannes Freriks. Zijn directe nakomelingen werden brandersknecht, scheepmakersknecht en melkschipper. Zijn nakomeling Kees Fredriks nam de smederij en wagenmakerij van zijn schoonvader over in de gemeente Overschie.
