This is a journey to dissect the knowledge of cannabis, and an attempt to make sense of the benefits and effects of consuming cannabis in any form. This book was written from a medical perspective deeply rooted in the normal body processes, and what happens when those processes are disturbed or altered. The material is not written for the purpose to discourage or encourage people to use cannabis in one form or another, but instead to empower the general public with knowledge before they decide to play around with this drug for any reason. Information offered may also be used by parents and teachers trying to educate their communities about the dangers and benefits of cannabis. If there is more information against than for cannabis that is presented throughout this book, that is not by design. We just do not have enough research on the risks and benefits; however, we can infer both from what we know about the extensive research done on other drugs as a guide. While the drugs are not the same, they share some interesting similarities that make the comparison much easier. We can not discuss everything in every detail on the topic of cannabis, but in this book we try focus on some major points and what can be simplified for those with little to no medical knowledge. Please bear in mind that the book was written for people without a solid foundation in science, so some topics and concepts were over-simplified. We start with what is known on the surface about cannabis smoking like effects on the lungs before moving into more complicated topics such as metabolism, law, economics, and social impact, and some of the associated problems.
