Major General Charles Jr Hood
This is the memoir of Major General (retired) Charles M. Hood, Jr., in his ascension from segregated Richmond, Virginia, to the Commanding General of the US Virgin Islands, National Guard. General Hood shares his story of family, education, hard work, determination, and drive through 35 years of military service and leadership. As you read this book, you will learn how he progressed from earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Hampton Institute (now University) to starting his career in the Army as a Second Lieutenant.This was followed by various leadershipcommand and staff positions in the US, Vietnam, and Germany, culminating with his last military position as Adjutant General of the National Guard and Executive Director of Emergency Management for the Territory of the US Virgin Islands.
