Analyzing how Mongolia has boosted education and youth skills, this report considers why the school-to-work transitions remain challenging, assesses factors including gender and income, and outlines ways to strengthen pathways to quality jobs. With some one-in-seven youth not in employment, education, and training (NEET), it highlights slow employment transitions, with only two-thirds in work five years after leaving school. It investigates the impacts of informal job searches and high workplace turnover. Outlining policy reforms, the report shows why adopting targeted action for young NEETs, improving job matching, and engaging with employers to increase work-based learning can bolster labor market transitions and outcomes.
