By analyzing those prophetic predictions that employ temporal expressions as introductory transitions - expressions such as 'in that day,' 'behold, days are coming,' and 'at the end of days' - De Vries demonstrates how futuristic expectation was expanded and reshaped within the prophetic collection toward an eventual canonical form. 3
