The analysis presented in the work is based on archival audio/video samples from the traditional music fund of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kuliyeva. The analysis is based on archival audio/video samples from the collection of traditional music of the M. Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, as well as on the materials of the author’s own field research. The study resulted in a typology of genres, taking into account their functional purpose, compositional structures, ways of living, regional and local performance features, poetics of content and a set of musical and expressive means. The book is intended for musicologists, folklorists, Turkologists, culturologists, performers of traditional music, teachers and students of musical educational institutions, as well as for a wide range of readers.
