Die vorliegende Untersuchung geht von einem Thema aus, das derzeit die Weltbevölkerung und insbesondere Kinder aus verschiedenen Regionen betrifft: Übergewicht und Fettleibigkeit. Dieses Thema wurde mit besonderem Augenmerk auf Kinder der sozialen Einrichtung Projeto Caminhando Juntos (CAJUN) behandelt, die Übergewicht und Adipositas mit hohem Body Mass Index (BMI) aufweisen. Ausgehend von dem Grundsatz, dass Umwelt, Technologie, Ernährung und der Rückgang körperlicher Aktivitäten typisch für die Generation des 21. Jahrhunderts sind, wurde eine Untersuchung der möglichen Ursachen von Übergewicht und Fettleibigkeit bei Kindern in Verbindung mit diesen Faktoren durchgeführt. So wurde die Analyse mit Kindern durchgeführt, die die soziale Einrichtung Projeto Caminhando Juntos (CAJUN) im Stadtteil Bonfim in Vitória/ES besuchen, um die möglichen Ursachen für die Gewichtszunahme und deren Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit und die Ausführung der täglichen Aktivitäten zu untersuchen. Für die Datenerhebung wurden folgende Instrumente verwendet: Erhebung anthropometrischer Messungen der Kinder, Befragung von Familienmitgliedern und bibliografische Erhebung.
