Lors d’une marée noire dans les zones de mangrove, il existe une forte probabilité d’agrégation du pétrole avec des particules en suspension, ce qui peut faire des sédiments de fond la destination finale de l’OSA (Oil-Suspended Particulate Aggregate - agrégat de particules en suspension). Dans de nombreux cas, cette formation peut constituer un risque important pour les organismes benthiques et nectoniques. Les tests d’écotoxicité sur ces organismes ont été largement utilisés comme l’une des formes les plus précises de surveillance biologique des impacts anthropogéniques sur les différents écosystèmes. Cette étude évalue l’écotoxicité de la formation d’OSA dans des simulations de mangrove, en utilisant des échantillons de sédiments collectés le long de l’estuaire du Rio Pardo, dans la municipalité de Canavierias, Bahia, par le biais d’essais pilotes avec des unités de simulation, réalisés avec du pétrole provenant du bassin de Campos. La procédure a été réalisée à l’aide de tests toxicologiques d’exposition aiguë et chronique pour déterminer la CL50 (concentration létale à 50 %) en utilisant le copépode Nitokra sp. et le microcrustacé Artemia salina.
