Han sido utilizados por fuerzas armadas y al servicios de inteligencia de Estados Unidos, no solo en operaciones de reconocimiento sino también en polémicos ataques contra civiles, en la lucha contra el terrorismo liderada por Estados Unidos, principalmente en Medio Oriente y Asia. Este documento busca poner de manifiesto la relevancia y actualidad del debate que se presenta con el uso de drones armados para operaciones de ataques selectivos, como forma de lucha contra el terrorismo; considerando que los parámetros para evaluar y determinar la legalidad de este tipo de actuaciones son diferentes en función del régimen jurídico aplicable a cada caso en concreto.
