El retiro voluntario de Satoshi coincide temporalmente con la especulación de PC World sobre los vínculos de Bitcoin y WikiLeaks y la posterior invitación realizada a Gavin Andresen -mano derecha de Satoshi en aquel momento- para que explicara qué es Bitcoin a agencias de seguridad de EE.UU.
