Os objectivos desta revisão são examinar a evidência científica existente para determinar os efeitos do treino intervalado de alta intensidade na força muscular em adultos mais velhos como elemento de prevenção e tratamento da sarcopenia. A conclusão é que o treino HIIT melhora a capacidade funcional e cardiorrespiratória e a composição corporal, tem benefícios na força muscular, aumenta a arquitetura e a qualidade muscular e está associado à hipertrofia muscular em adultos mais velhos.
