A utilização optimizada de imagens ópticas e de radar é uma área de grande interesse na detecção remota. O principal objectivo deste estudo é explorar o potencial da fusão óptico-radar para o mapeamento litoestrutural do subsolo pré-cambriano na África Ocidental. A resolução espacial da banda Radarsat (50 m) é refinada para 15 m por fusão wavelet com o canal pancromático, antes de ser fundida por análise multiresolução e transformação wavelet com as bandas Landsat 7 ETM+ 1-5 e 7. O resultado é uma imagem óptico-radar multiespectral com alta resolução espacial simulada (OR). A interpretação visual dos produtos derivados de tratamentos temáticos específicos aplicados às imagens permitiu-nos elaborar um esboço litoestrutural do subsolo pré-cambriano. Este destaca as principais unidades geológicas, os corredores e as falhas características das principais direcções de fracturação da região.
