La recente ribellione dei ribelli Seleka nella Repubblica Centrafricana (RCA) ha causato distruzione e lo spostamento di migliaia di rifugiati dalla RCA al Camerun. Tra coloro che sono fuggiti in Camerun, ci sono donne e bambini che sono diventati rifugiati. Sono entrati in Camerun attraverso i confini orientali. Nel processo di protezione di donne e bambini attraverso l’applicazione delle norme del diritto internazionale umanitario, sono state incontrate diverse sfide visibili non solo dagli operatori, dalla supervisione sul campo ma anche dai rifugiati. Il diritto internazionale umanitario e il governo camerunese hanno adottato misure legali per proteggere questi gruppi vulnerabili. La protezione di donne e bambini vulnerabili in seguito a insurrezioni come quella dei ribelli Seleka della RCA rimane una delle principali preoccupazioni della comunità internazionale. Un aumento del personale, sia da parte del governo che delle ONG, potrebbe fornire ai rifugiati sistemi sanitari migliori, assistenza sociale e altre infrastrutture rilevanti necessarie per soddisfare le loro esigenze generali.
