Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Literatur, Note: 1,0, Universität zu Köln (Englisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Proseminar Virginia Woolf, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Virginia Woolf benutzt in Mrs Dalloway verschiedene Fokalisierer, um die Gedanken der betreffenden Personen darzustellen. Clarissa Dalloway, Septimus Warren Smith und Peter Walsh werden dazu besonders häufig herangezogen. Ihre Gedanken schweifen dabei immer wieder in die Vergangenheit zurück. Die vorliegende Arbeit versucht zu zeigen, dass diese Charaktere durch ihre Vergangenheit besonders geprägt worden sind und sie ihr Leben in der Gegenwart völlig nach den Erlebnissen der Vergangenheit ausrichten. Auch sollen die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der Erlebnisse, die die Charaktere beeinflussen, hervorgehoben werden, die bei Clarissa zu einer Lebensbejahung, bei Septimus zum Selbstmord und bei Peter dazu führen, dass sein ganzes Leben als Fehler angesehen wird.
