O Brasil possui a flora arbórea mais diversificada do Planeta Terra.Contudo a falta de direcionamento técnico e de conscientização ecológica na exploração dos recursos florestais tem acarretado prejuízos irreparáveis ao ambiente, como o desmatamento e a destinação inadequada dos resíduos sólidos. Tendo em vista o grande problema que os resíduos causam ao ambiente, essa pesquisa teve como objetivo descobrir a utilização dos resíduos gerados na avaliação da qualidade de sementes de Bowdichia virgilioides (Paricarana) em laboratório. A pesquisa foi realizada na sede da Embrapa Roraima, área interna e externa da empresa,no ano de 2008.A metodologia adotada na pesquisa foi do tipo exploratório e descritivo com enfoque misto(qualitativo) e (quantitativo).Os procedimentos foram divididos em três fase.Foi selecionado no laboratório de sementes da Embrapa Roraima amostras de sementes de Bowdichia virgilioides provenientes da coleta de 10 árvores no mês de dezembro 2006 a janeiro de 2007,sendo 5 de cada procedência, região do Taiano e Bonfim. Duas mil sementes foram utilizadas.
