Er schenkt sie ihm, und in solchem Maß, daß der Begnadete jetzt die wahre Liebe, die echte Gottesliebe ganz fühlt und versteht, jene Liebe die allen Zweifel und alle Furcht austreibt, die auf Gott wie auf einen Felsen baut; und welche Seligkeit ist es, auf den bauen, der ewig, wahr und ohne Wandel ist? O warum zauderst du denn also so lange, warum wankst du zwischen dir und Gott? Gib dich dem Herrn ganz hin, gewiß nimmt er dich an und auf, er wird dein Arzt, er wird dein Heiland sein! Das denke und erwäge stets, o Seele, das wird dich eher fördern zu einem seligen Leben, als alle Reichtümer, Freuden und Ehren der Welt, als alles Wissen und alle Weltweisheit, die nur trügend sind und dahingehen mit der Welt, und wärst du der erste und einzige der Weisesten, der je war, oder noch sein wird, das würde dich nicht glücklich, nicht selig machen. Albertus Magnus, oder auch anders, Albert der Große, zeigt in diesem kurzen, prägnanten Werk den Weg, den der gottsuchende Mensch beschreiten kann, um zu tiefer Erkenntnis seiner Selbst und Gottes unendlicher Gnade ihm gegenüber zu gelangen. Ein Meisterwerk der mittelalterlichen deutschen Mystik, dessen Gedanken auch später bei Johannes Tauler wieder gefunden werden.
