Dearest Minnie is a strong narrative-driven creative history which brings to light a typical sailor’s life on the "USS Virginia" during Teddy Roosevelt’s Great White Fleet cruise of sixteen battleships around the world in 1907-1909. This story chronicles not only the cruise itself, but the social and political climate of that time in each port where the ships re-coaled. The story is told through picture postcards vividly portraying this world event sent from a sailor to his sweetheart that lead to a proposal of marriage.Extensive research, the colored postcards and the actual words written by the sailor creates a fresh approach to history. This book is a book that will appeal to those who have an interest in American history, military history, postcard collecting, geopolitical interest, and romance.Their journey is over, but now, a more important one begins. I hope you will join me in launching their story.
