Dieses Buch ist eine Anpassung einer Doktorandenstudie mit dem Titel Perceptions of theatre in Uganda: Impact on Theory and Practice. Ziel der Studie war es, die unterschiedlichen Wahrnehmungen des Theaters in Uganda zu ermitteln und zu untersuchen, wie diese Wahrnehmungen die theoretischen und praktischen Dimensionen des Theaters beeinflusst haben. Der Hauptzweck der Studie bestand darin, die Einstellung der Beteiligten zum Theater zu ermitteln und zu untersuchen, wie sich diese Einstellung auf theoretische, konzeptionelle und praktische Fragen sowie auf die Politik des Theaters in Uganda auswirkt. Die Studie kam zu dem Schluss, dass eine negative Einstellung gegenüber dem Theater besteht, die zu Apathie und später zu einer unzureichenden Entwicklung von Theorie und Praxis des Theaters in Uganda geführt hat. Dieses Buch beleuchtet daher das Wesen des Theaters, wie es sich aus der Doktorandenforschung ergibt.
