Il libro descrive e analizza la storia recente della cooperazione in materia di scienza, tecnologia e innovazione (STI) tra Brasile e Giappone, ponendo l’accento sugli accordi firmati a partire dagli anni ’70 e sui progetti realizzati nel primo decennio del XXI secolo, al fine di verificare i contributi delle azioni di cooperazione bilaterale al miglioramento delle competenze in materia di STI che hanno ripercussioni sullo sviluppo del Brasile. Le strategie e i settori prioritari delle politiche STI di Brasile e Giappone sono confrontati con le azioni e le aree in cui si è svolta la cooperazione bilaterale. Una maggiore conoscenza reciproca, una maggiore partecipazione del settore privato e un migliore impegno dei rappresentanti accademici e governativi nei meccanismi bilaterali sono modi per bilanciare gli interessi nell’aumento della cooperazione S&T&I tra Brasile e Giappone, la cui realizzazione potrebbe avere un impatto positivo sullo sviluppo brasiliano.
